✷ Soft Tan Info + Pricing ✷

We offer two styles of soft tans: back hides and full pelts. Back hides include everything on the animal except for their head, tail, and paws. Full pelt includes everything on the animal including the head, tail and paws. For photo examples between the two, please visit the gallery.

Should you desire a back hide, but want to add a tail, head, or paw(s), we can certainly tailor to your preference! $50 per tail/paw, $100 per head

Soft tanned hides are prepared in house, and sent out to be tanned. We do not possess the equipment to produce as excellent of quality that a professional tannery can provide for soft tans. We have been using our tannery for years; they are reputable and reliable, and we’ve never experienced any issues with our system.

With that being said, we are not responsible for items sent to the tannery once they have left our premises. We are also not responsible for any hide slippage that results from poor anatomical biomes (ie, overly greasy specimens, abnormally thin skin, etc). If any of these occurances were to happen, you will be notified immediately, and would only be charge a service fee ($50-$150 depending on size of specimen). Though these possibilities are extremely unlikely, we only recommend proceeding with soft tanning if you are comfortable knowing this information.

All soft tans are processed via a belly and leg incision, so the whole hide/pelt lays flat (like an altar cloth). If you wish for a case (or “tube”) style hide or pelt, we can certainly make this happen for pets under 25 lbs. All case skinned soft tans are +$125.

Other things to note on soft tans: Due to natural oils being removed prior to tanning, some hides can very slightly lighten in color. It is also common during the preservation process for small holes to be made in the hide, typically in the thinner skinned areas (belly/armpit). Majority of holes cannot be seen from fur side. All holes larger than a quarter size will be repaired free of charge.
